Visible pores and rough texture do not always come from the same cause. TextureAxis separates surface shape, redness, pigment, elasticity and deeper tethering into seven connected views, helping set the stage and focus of a skin texture program.

Pores and depressions that look similar on the surface may come from reduced elasticity, a sharp surface edge or deeper tethering. The likely cause changes the approach.

01 PORE · P

Pores

We separate oil-related pores, pores made more visible by reduced elasticity, and openings that resemble ice-pick scars, along with their density in each area. They are not all treated as one “pore problem.”

02 SURFACE · S

Surface unevenness

We examine roughness, shallow boxcar-like depressions, stepped edges and unevenness seen in angled light. This helps define how much of the surface may need attention.

03 REDNESS · R

Redness and vessels

We look for post-acne red marks, vascular redness and flushing caused by irritation. Standardized photographs and, when useful, cross-polarized images can help compare color.

04 MELANIN · M

Pigment

We distinguish brown marks, post-inflammatory pigmentation, lighter areas and mixed tones, while considering pigment risk for the individual's skin type.

05 ELASTICITY · E

Elasticity

We assess stretched-looking pores, thin-looking dermis and texture that changes with expression or gentle tension. Reduced elasticity may need attention before the pore itself.

06 ADHESION · A

Adhesion depth

We separate no tethering, superficial tethering, tethering near the dermal-subcutaneous border and deeper fat-layer tethering, using palpation, a stretch test, facial movement, angled light and ultrasound when needed.

07 SAFETY GATE · G

Treatment safety check

We first review active acne, dermatitis, infection or herpes, medications, pregnancy, current recovery and pigment risk to decide whether to proceed, reduce intensity or stabilize the skin first.

How a seven-axis profile
shapes a texture program

  1. Photograph several angles and lighting conditions — Front, oblique and side views in standard and angled light help show where pores, surface unevenness, redness and pigment are most visible.
  2. Create the TextureAxis vector — The P·S·R·M·E·A·G axes are recorded by score and type to organize the likely leading cause.
  3. Check adhesion depth and safety first — Whether the skin needs to settle first, the surface needs attention, or tethering needs release helps guide the Pre-Texture, Lite, Reset or Core stage.
  4. Change the target as the skin changes — Rather than treating every issue strongly at once, priorities across pores, surface, color and elasticity are adjusted to recovery and the previous response.
  5. Compare the remaining axes — Once deeper structure is more stable, remaining pores, redness, pigment and surface concerns can continue in the Maintain stage.

Are visible pores and acne-scar depressions assessed in the same way?
They can overlap, but pore distribution, surface edges and deeper tethering are reviewed separately. When the causes differ, the treatment order may differ as well.
Why is treatment safety one of the seven axes?
Current inflammation, skin sensitivity, pigmentation risk and available recovery time can change both treatment strength and the best time to begin.
Can one person have concerns across several TextureAxis axes?
Yes. Pores, redness, pigment, reduced elasticity and tethering may appear together. We set an order around the leading axis and review the priorities again at each visit.
Is TextureAxis a granted patent?
Not yet. A patent application related to the TextureAxis assessment system is pending in Korea. The application concerns an assessment and information-output framework that organizes seven skin-texture features and records program assignment and changes over time.
